Educational Objectives: After
attending the presentation, the participants should be
able to:
- Describe the epidemiology of
venous thromboembolism (VTE).
- Identify factors that increase the
risk of VTE
- Discuss current guidelines for the
prevention and treatment of VTE
- Compare and contrast the benefits
and limitations of various pharmacologic options
used in the management of VTE.
- Discuss appropriate treatment
selection and dosing considerations of
antithrombotic agents in special patient populations
