MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTMITCH LESTICO, PHARM.D.Well, it’s coming to that time of year again — our last meeting of the year. It also means that my term as President is coming to a close, though my involvement in AASHP is not. I think all would agree that it’s been a year of good educational topics and good food. We will be having a “changing of the guard” at our May meeting. The terms of all the officers will come to a close and new blood will be taking the reins. I would like to take the opportunity to thank my officers for their dedication and hard work this past year. Lisa Thibodeaux continued to represent our technicians while making a job change to Round Rock Hospital. It’s so important to have the technician viewpoint in consideration whenever we make decisions that affect all the members. Thank you Lisa. Joe Rascati has served as Director-At-Large and has done a great job at keeping our newsletter and program announcements coming. His expertise in desktop publishing has been greatly appreciated, not to mention his great assistance in recruiting the next “class” of AASHP officers. Thanks Joe! Benee Brown has done an excellent job at maintaining our financial records as treasurer. Keeping a handle on the financial pulse of any organization is a vital task that takes time and effort. Thank you Benee for your help and dedication over the past two years! Our secretary for the past two years has been absolutely invaluable to me and to AASHP. Lynn Villarreal has worked tirelessly through difficult times to get the job done. Being secretary is not an easy job, but one that is indispensable. I cannot thank you enough Lynn for all that you have done for AASHP. I’ll forever be grateful for your efforts. Ara Wisnoski, our immediate past President, has been a great resource and sounding board for me as I navigated my way through this year. Thanks Ara for your experience and words of wisdom. Kathy Baker, our incoming President, is certainly not new to the operational aspects of AASHP. As a former secretary, she brings great experience with her. Kathy’s coordination of the Spring Seminar has been excellent— not an easy task. Thank you Kathy for your help this past year. It’s great to know that I’ll be leaving the Society in such good hands. As immediate past President, I will continue to have involvement in the Society. I will continue to look at the possibility of a website for AASHP, though initial startup costs are substantial. We may have to approach this in “baby steps”. Finally, I want to thank all of you as members of AASHP for your support and interest in the Society. Without you we wouldn’t have AASHP. I hope you will continue to be a part. As our immediate past President of TSHP, Kevin Purcell, would say, “May the pharmacy spirit be with you”.
