MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Wow, we are off to a terrific start this year. Thanks again to all the past officers who helped carry on the hard work and efforts of those before them. Special recognition goes to Mitch Lestico for his hard work and dedication over the last year ensuring that our organization continued to have quality continuing education programs as well as representing us at the TSHP. Thank goodness he will continue to stay active in our local chapter and TSHP. I am also very excited about the new officers that took office on May 13th. Jim Wilson was elected as President-Elect, Marilyn Metz Pearce took over the job of Secretary, Jean Baemayr is our new treasurer, Manny Garcia is the New Director at Large and Marvin Walker is the Technician Representative. Congratulations to all the new officers! If you ever need to contact one of the officers, check out our new website. Special recognition and Thanks goes to Uwe Baemayr, husband of Jean. Uwe volunteered his time and talent to develop our website and it looks GREAT! Try it out and let us know your feedback. Soon we hope to decrease mailing costs and utilize the web page as a more efficient communication tool for our members.

And let’s not forget about those upcoming meetings. Our first meeting of the year will be a fun, yet a rewarding event for all. August 30th will be our annual membership drive and will also be a evening to meet with Austin Area Pharmaceutical representatives. Then stay and have some fun as we watch the Round Rock express take on San Antonio. Don’t miss out, it should be a really fun time. This is an event that can be enjoyed with family and friends as well. The September meeting is right after that, September 9th. Come and get the latest updates on Asthma Therapy.

Since most of us have active schedules, it is always better to be notified early. Mark your calendars now for the following meetings. (More details as they become available)

• October 14th—Osteoporosis, sponsored by Lilly

• November—Joint meeting with CAPA (date pending)

And don’t forget to Renew your membership! Special benefits to those members that renew and attend the Baseball game. I believe the year will bring variety CE programs as well as friendship and good times. Take Care!
