President's Message

First, I’d like to invite you to join me in a virtual round of applause for the AASHP officers that have been working for you the past two years and have agreed to do so for another year. Thank you goes out to Jim Wilson, Mitch Lestico, Marilyn Pearce, Jean Baemayr, Manny Garcia, and Marvin Walker. And, of course, a big THANK YOU! to our webmaster, Uwe Baemayr. Because of the website, communications, including meeting registration and membership sign-ups and renewals, are so much easier than in the past.

It is an honor to serve as your AASHP president. Thank you for this enriching opportunity. I was somewhat skeptical some years back when Diane Ginsburg said that by serving your professional organizations you get more than give. She was right. I learned it first hand when I was AASHP treasurer a few years back. Meeting with colleagues is also a big benefit of staying active in AASHP that I would not want to miss out on.

Currently, there is still an opportunity for the right person to be president-elect during the 2005/2006 calendar year. We’re planning on having elections for the other offices in the spring, and we’ve already got some folks interested, so stay tuned. Your officers are just a click away by email from the website if you have any questions, want to volunteer or want to post an article, announcement, or job opening on the website.

Speaking of volunteering, everyone that helped staff the volunteer clinic in August also deserves a virtual round of applause. Manny did a great job, as always, getting everyone organized and on the calendar to fill in. Folks that got to enjoy working the clinic in August include: Allan Hawkins, Jean Baemayr, Holli Temple, Phyllis Beckman, Manny Garcia, Royd Malmstrom, and me. January is the next opportunity for this fun change of pace as a pharmacist, and I encourage you to sign up.
