Educational Goals:

Inform participants about Epidemiology & Bacterial Resistance

Pharmacist Educational Objectives:

  1. Understand the growing problem of antibiotic resistance.
  2. Identify the areas of practice where most resistant organisms are seen.
  3. Review and discuss the appropriate selection of antibiotics for treatment of
    resistant organisms.
  4. Understand the use of a new class of antibiotics called glycylcyline.

Pharmacy Tech Educational Objectives:

  1. Understand the impact of antibiotic resistance.
  2. Understand the reasons for antibiotic resistance.
  3. Become aware of new medications used to treat antibiotic resistance.

Target audience: pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program (156-999-07-133-L04-P/156-999-07-133-L04-T ) provides 1.0 contact hour (0.10 CEUs) of continuing pharmaceutical education. To receive a Statement of Participation, a program evaluation form must be completed and turned in at the end of the program.
