Topic   “Parkinson's Disease and Therapy Update ”

Educational Goals:

  • Inform participants about current treatments options for Parkinson's syndrome.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Be able to list the cardinal symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and some of the features of Parkinson's syndrome.
  2. Be able to list the medications used for Parkinson's Disease and their roles in the management of Parkinson's Disease.
  3. List some of the non-motor symptoms and the drugs used in the treatment of these issues.
  4. in more detail the pharmacology and efficacy data for MAO inhibitors, specifically the indications, side effects, drug interactions, and possible neuroprotective benefits of rasagiline.

The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program (156-999-08-030-L01-P) provides 1.0 contact hour (0.10 CEUs) of continuing pharmaceutical education. To receive a Statement of Participation, a program evaluation form must be completed and turned in at the end of the program.
