“Antibiotic Use and the Problem of Increasing Bacterial Resistance in Hospital and ICU Setting”

Educational Objectives:

  1. To discuss mechanisms of resistance of antibiotics and present national data on resistance for Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Acinetobacter, and the entreobactereciae.
  2. To review antibiotic pharmacodynamics and show how this knowledge can help us with better use of our existing antibiotics.
  3. To present data on the use of doripenem, a new carbapenem.

The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program (156-999-08-078-L01-P) provides 1.0 contact hour (0.10 CEUs) of continuing pharmaceutical education. To receive a Statement of Participation, a program evaluation form must be completed and turned in at the end of the program.
