The Austin Area Society of Health-System
Pharmacists is an organization comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy
technicians who practice in Central Texas. AASHP is an
affiliate of the
Texas Society of
Health-System Pharmacists and the
American Society of
Health-System Pharmacists.

12 AASHP Meeting Announcement
We are now accepting
reservations for the Tuesday, May 11 dinner meeting. This
meeting is being held at Chez Zee, on Balcones Drive, just west of the
intersection of Northland (2222) and Mopac (Loop 1).
The topic is "Prophylaxis of Deep Vein Thrombosis in Medical Patients
with Severely Restricted Mobility During Acute Illness", and the speaker
is Scott Soefje from the UT Health Sciences Center San Antonio

AASHP Constitution
 The Austin Area
Society of Health-System Pharmacists Constitution has been amended with
changes to the by-laws. The changes were approved by the membership at
the October, 2007 meeting and the amended Constitution has been posted on our
website (click to download).
Thanks to the officers of AASHP and especially Deanna
Dossey, AASHP Past President, for spearheading the process of amending
the AASHP Constitution so that we may better serve the members of our
organization.
 The

Deana Dossey, Past-President of AASHP has compiled a very
interesting history of AASHP (thanks, Deana!).

AASHP Member Activity Spotlight
Donna Fowler, Past-President of AASHP, responded to the call for help
after the devastating hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast. We missed her
at the meeting, but were proud to know she was responding to the
disaster. Many of us are curious about what exactly it is she does when
she goes to Florida, Louisiana, or wherever, to help out in emergencies,
so we asked her to write about her experience for our website.
